11:52 am
11:52 am Woke up late. Brushing teeth. Time to get going!

11:58 am
11:58 am Check out the fantastic superfly monkey from woot.com It flies. It screeches. Chris and I each got one.

12:03 pm
12:03 pm I idle a bit on my powerbook, looking up addresses and planning for the day. Typical me!

12:13 pm
12:13 pm The required QUESTION to Cheez. This time on my cell because I didn't actually go on AIM today. As you can tell, I was trying to find where the Red Lobster was yesterday. And I was bugging Lele about whether there was a DG or not. Also note, how my phone is quite fancily dirty. No, I am not buying an iPhone so there! Cheez later responds that he forgot his camera. Whoops.

12:13 pm
12:13 pm Chris has a cool case for his ipod. A grassy one!

12:28 pm
12:28 pm Chris parks quite illegally and we use a buy one get one free jamba juice. We also have our jamba juice cup. We get some of the secret flavors‹white gummy bear and strawberry shortcake this time. I like the strawberry shortcake the most of the two.

12:38 pm
12:38 pm And in the glimmer of the tanker in front of us, we see our car. A silver BMW shining in the afternoon of a Sunday.

12:50 pm
12:50 pm We're now in South San Jose and it's annoyingly scorching hot since it's so inland and in a valley. I wish it was San Francisco where regardless of the season, I always have to wear a jacket.

Maybe I shouldn't have worn a jacket.

12:53 pm
12:53 pm And so enter the San Jose Flea market‹one of the largest flea markets in the world. They say it's the size of a city. I haven't been to it for years. As I remember when I was a little kid, I got a box with a turtle that wiggled. I mean, it was a fake turtle with legs that moved whenever the box was tapped.

1:18 pm
1:18 pm Look, a Miller beer truck. Sitting alone. He serves beer and Coke from his truck.

1:37 pm
1:37 pm Time to peruse the cars for auction. Surprisingly, there's a good number of nice cars despite being all used. Chris is quite excited.

Although we don't actually buy any.

1:44 pm
1:44 pm Make your own friend booth. Chris is quite mesmerized by the stuffing that goes in and out. He doesn't buy me one. :(

2:24 pm
2:24 pm I am getting uncomfortably hot as we walk past booths that basically sell the same items that I see on Mission every day. While Chris finds some used video games (that he plans to sell later), I reluctantly head toward the restroom.

Surprisingly, it's clean and well-kept, very unlike what I would expect of a restroom at a flea market. I refresh myself and feel so much better. Thanks San Jose flea market!

2:25 pm
2:25 pm Ok, so where am I...

As you can probably tell the entire flea market is lined by rows and lanes...a nice grid system that is lacking in many major cities.

2:26 pm
2:26 pm Chris walks up to meet me from his video game/dvd booths. Found anything? I ask. Nothing yet. Although really it's because we used up our cash buying a few things earlier.

2:32 pm
We find a kid's playground admist the fun. Chris says he's short enough...

2:33 pm
2:33 pm And he runs without the playground guard seeing. He climbs up the slide and goes down. Then runs back to me where am shaking my head, but with an amused look on my face.

2:38 pm
2:38 pm Oh a photo booth! It's three dollars, but I'll do it! I mean WE WILL.

2:39 pm
2:39 pm The results of the photo booth. Clearly, we weren't very imaginative this time around. But it's cool! About six shots in all...

2:52 pm
2:52 pm I demand that I get candy and give Chris one dollar to see what he can do. :D Chris buys me $1 bag of a spicy watermelon lollipops. At first, it's too spicy. But I give it another attempt. When I finally get past the first layer, it's sweet. The combination makes the lollipop interesting. They should mix it though.

3:04 pm
3:04 pm And we leave! It was a bit overwhelming and hot. I was slightly disappointed overall, because almost all the booths were alike. They weren't selling things you find at a stereotypical flea market, but mostly new wares priced slightly cheaper. I couldn't even find the box with a wiggling turtle.

3:09 pm
3:09 pm After stumbling through several rows of parked cars, we find the silver BMW roasting in the sun. Thank god!

3:18 pm
3:18 pm Reflection of the blue and gold flowers I gave to Chris. Pretty!

3:28 pm
3:28 pm Freeway exit. Look we're near NASA! It's to our right with the huge airplane hangars (wind tunnels) and huge satellite dishes.

3:28 pm
3:28 pm And look! A Carnegie Mellon University (my alma mater) sign. Yes there's a campus in...California!

3:47 pm
3:47 pm We stop by Chris' apt to pick up some BBQ ribs and head to Cole's house for a BBQ!

3:55 pm
3:55 pm Caltrain crossing. Reminder: don't stop on the railroad tracks. You'll not only make some caltrain passengers irate, but sadly you might lose your life too. Apparently though, this happens about three times a year.

4:00 pm
4:00 pm We arrive and I tell Chris not to park in the sun. He protests saying that I would have to step in water. However, I insist. I open the door and there is more water than I thought. I jump over the river.

4:49 pm
4:49 pm And inside, we socialize with some of my former classmates during my last year at CMU. Bryan stands in the middle some conversation near the stairwell. Probably about how cool their iPhones are.

4:50 pm
4:50 pm While we wait for the food to cook, I play with everyone's iPhones and add my information. Apparently, most people unlike me don't regularly update their address book and thus have barely any phone numbers. I make a new entry on their phone and enter my information. My name, mobile number, nickname, street address, work number, personal email address, secondary personal email address, blog url, photo, and most importantly, my birthday.

I also made sure I was in people's favorites.

5:02 pm
5:02 pm Eating time! I keep my plate minimal. With a rib. Some beef. And long string beans to balance out the protein.

5:20 pm
5:20 pm Oh and some corn.

5:21 pm
5:21 pm Chris has a Miller Lite, which someone says aloud "it can't even be called a beer".

5:54 pm
5:54 pm Jonathan poses next to a Darth Vader head. Set your phasers on stun!

6:20 pm
6:20 pm Cole has a nice setup for his jukebox controlled by his phone or by the keys shown here. I play with the dial to change years and play so cool songs. Like Macarena! Ricardo's head was in the way.

6:20 pm
6:20 pm Some people play some games! Which I had no patience for. During this time, I was in indecision about whether to see a movie with people or do laundry. DOY.

6:21 pm
6:21 pm The eccentricities of Cole's place. And that cool finger hook.

6:21 pm
6:21 pm It's an unopened iPhone box!

6:26 pm
6:26 pm How and why. Questions of the unknown.

6:51 pm
6:51 pm We all disperse outside. Cole points to people who are going to a movie. Some go to Jonathan's to drink. Others like me go to do laundry. I mean, only me.

6:51 pm
6:51 pm Most of this crew at the end of the driveway heads to Jonathan's...

7:36 pm
7:36 pm Start the laundry and run to find an ice cream place. Here's the post-it of the places I wanted to go to this weekend. Rick's Ice Cream, we shall find!

7:38 pm
7:38 pm And yes, the world's famous ice cream (as it said on the outside of the door...and many other ice cream stores I have been). Chris and I split a bowl of Georgia peach sorbet and rose.

8:02 pm
8:02 pm We roll past all the 7-Elevens in search for Kwik-E-Mart. Chris is inside who is asking the cashier (an Indian guy) about it. He's totally oblivious and doesn't know about it. He doesn't even know what the Simpsons is. I sit in the car...waiting...

8:15 pm
8:15 pm Finishing up some laundry. Look, only one DOLLAH.

8:18 pm
8:18 pm Chris' car! Support the magnetic ribbon industry can cause some strife or some real hard chuckles.

11:17 pm
11:17 pm TEE VEE. Chris gets me onto Battlestar Galatica and we watch some more of the nerdy series (season 1)!

12:11 am
12:11 am A little bit of random surfing and finding out that there was actually a 20th anniversary of the Macintosh back in the days when Apple wasn't at its peak. But regardless, now it's NAPTIME. Good night!
